The woman behind the camera
Hi, I’m Sherry.
I’m a photographer, caregiver, storyteller, transgender woman, person of faith, and lifelong Californian by way of Illinois.
Most people meet me with a camera in my hand, but photography has never been only about cameras. It is about noticing people—really noticing them—and giving them room to be seen without asking them to perform perfection.
I have lived with epilepsy since childhood. I know what it is like to need patience, clear communication, flexibility, and respect. I carry those things into every session.
A family story since 1955
History carried forward, not frozen in time.
Dansby Photography began as a family business in 1955. I am proud of that history, but I am just as committed to making the business useful and welcoming now.
Today I photograph on location throughout Orange County and Los Angeles. My work includes headshots, lifestyle and fine-art portraits, boudoir and pin-up, reunions, red carpets, nonprofit and community events, photo restoration, and print-to-digital preservation.
I want people to know what we are doing, why we are doing it, what it costs, and what they will receive. Calm guidance is not an extra. It is part of the service.
What guides the work
You do not have to be perfect here.
You do not have to know how to pose.
You do not have to look like anyone else.
You can ask for a break, an adjustment, or more privacy.
You deserve to understand the plan before you agree to it.
You just have to be willing to be seen. I’ll take care of the rest.
