Vegan Lifestyle Portraits
A little over a week ago, January 22nd, 2022, I had the pleasure of shooting Shelbe Chang, a celebrity real-estate broker at a vegan burger place in Long Beach, CA. The location was VBurger, a small and quaint family run restaurant on 4th and Cherry in Long Beach, CA. Honestly when I first went to find a place for this photoshoot, I knew I wanted to cater to the “smaller independent” restaurants. So a few weeks prior I made the drive to Long Beach to check-out the establishments with a focus on small businesses. I was going along Cherry Ave and the smell coming from this place was wonderful… I knew I had to stop and at least try one of their “hamburgers”. It wasn’t until I walked in the place that I found out that it is a #vegan place… The smell was just like going into a regular burger joint, but these were made with plants. Anyhow I spoke with the manager on duty and told them my offer and what I was doing... They agreed to it with extreme enthusiasm. I contacted Miss Chang at her office in Long Beach and let her know that I found a place.
So, I met Shelbe on the 22nd there and we did our Lifestyle Fine Art Portraiture Photoshoot. She had a blast it only took about an hour. This place is perfect for photographers who like to catch “real-life” portraits and the surrounding environment. VBurger has indoor and outdoor seating a pleasant ambiance and excellent staff that makes sure your every need is met.
Shelbe Chang is a personal friend of mine, and she knew I was trying to rebuild me portfolio and get back in the game. So, she graciously took time out of her busy schedule to do this for me. Not only is Shelbe a real-estate broker to some very high-profile clients but she is also an advocate and public figure for the transgender community. When she’s not conducting business, she uses her experience to educate and advocate for her community and causes.
A lot of you may be asking what a Lifestyle Fine Art Photoshoot is. Well, the answer is very easy… It’s a style of portrait that shows you in your everyday life. I try to use places that you go to a lot. A favorite restaurant, favorite park or even your own back yard. It’s about you and the location and how that location makes you feel. What is the setting for “real-life portraits”? Let me guess that was your next question? Real-life portraits are very much like the previously mentioned Lifestyle Fine Art type. Except one minor change, It’s a lot about the environment if you have a favorite park that is your calm in the storm of the city then that’s the location… That park. If you live in a small-town and always go to the coffee shop that’s always busy that’s the place for you. In the background you see what you are trying to escape and in the foreground is your place of solitude.
